Großmeister Simon Williams wurde 1998 Internationaler Meister und erhielt 2008 den Großmeistertitel verliehen. In den letzten Jahren hat er neben dem Spielen vor allem unterrichtet und Trainings - DVDs erstellt. Auch als Schachkommentator verfügt er über viel Erfahrung. Williams kommentierte unter anderem beim Gibraltar-Open, dem stärksten und besten offenen Turnier der Welt. Simon Williams hat zahlreiche Schachbücher geschrieben und sein erstes, Play the Classical Dutch, wurde von der Schachzeitschrift New in Chess zu einem der besten 10 Schachbücher aller Zeiten gewählt.
